Home Blessings
A letter I received the other day offering my home a blessing:
All I have to do is use this prayer rug (a piece of paper actually) and my prayers will come true.

An interesting usage of the postal mail. Jesus as Pony Express. And it's done up like a chain-letter. My task is to fill out the questionaire and send it on. When I do that - along with my usage of the rug - I might even win $40,000! Despite my efforts here to mock this, I find it quite scary - occult like. When I first tried to scan this stuff in, the computer kept crashing/ my scanner wouldn't start. DON'T MOCK ME HUMAN! What's worse? Messing with the postal authorities or mocking the Jesus prayer rug-chain letter?

Oh I got that too. I was enticed by the blessing message on the front of the envelope, but when I read the contents inside, I couldn't help but laugh. I opened it about 3 days after I got it-- apparently I was s'posed to send it within 24 hours of getting it. Whoops. LOL. If you do a Google search for "Jesus prayer rug" you'll find the thing's nothing but a scam.

I got this same mailing a couple of months ago. I found it so fascinating that I kept it, and I use it as entertainment whenever friends come to visit. I think I might be in trouble w/the Big Guy for not sending it on.
I'm amazed that these people don't seem to be aware that the piece of paper is NOT A FREAKING RUG.

About twelve or thirteen years ago I got a packet of "miracle cement" (it looked like sand in a small square of celophane) from the Rev. Bob Tiltan. I assume BT gets national coverage, but he's been a Detroit TV viewing staple for years--he'll heal you if you touch the screen while he prays.
Anyway, I kept the cement for a while, then one day my TV went out. I put the miracle cement on top, and ten minutes later Rev. Bob Tiltan popped up on the screen.
I'm mostly dissappointed I waisted my miracle on fixing a shitty old TV.

What's in the questionaire? I think you're safe in mocking this chain letter. I've checked the Beatitudes and there's no mention of blessing those who answer chain letters--or those who use Jesus as a marketing tool, for that matter.
