Ok academic bloggers. Let's start getting intellectual. No carnivals. No circus. No Inside Higher Ed griping. Just straight up trash talk. What are you working on and when are you going to put it out there for discussion? Come out of the paper writing closet.

What's Inside Higher Ed? Seriously, I'm working on my MLA presentation on the time-travel film, "The Jacket." Because the title of the panel has an explicit anti-Bush slant, I'll prbably be mentioned in one of those notorious articles....

Something called "Caring About, Accumulating and Using: Sorting out Judgment in the Digital Age." It's intended to be a response to Elbow's pretty-darned-canonical "Ranking, Evaluating and Liking." Will be a presentation at a conference at UMass and maybe eventually something else... if I can find a good one-word way of saying "caring about" (thesauri fail me).

Primarily, finishing the dis on social memory in Old English literature, which is also laying the ground work for a second book project on contemporary rhetorical memory.
And while at the archive, I'm taking notes for what I plan to propose for C&W next summer, a piece on Ong's engagement with digital culture post Orality and Literacy, which draws heavily from his unpublished/unfinished work.

I have been ruminating over "Tabling the Grid", my essay about the way the "table" tag affects web design. Last night, I found a bit in Mark Taylor's The Moment of Complexity that stiches a few things together. I think I'll be able to get the structure of the essay finished soon, and then bang it out.
Last month I turned in some abstracts for projects I started long ago; those go up next. I've started using a wiki to hack on this stuff. A few rough spots there, but overall I'm digging it.
And our kid will arrive any day now.

Current project: article on working-class poetics. How might looking at working-class discourse through a "poetics" lens shed light on the contradictions of class? Just took your challenge and blogged a bit about the project--comments are welcomed.

What am I working on?
Big Project: What does "posthumanism" do to persuasion? (so, effect of distributed indentity on ethos in early distributed capitalism). Out for review already.
Small Projects: Technical Marketing (under review); tweaking "service learning" (pub in early '06); cityblogs (class working on this for release party in December). Whaddabout you, YD?
