Serious Bloggers
A few weeks ago, I was invited to do an IHE piece. So here it is:
"Serious Bloggers".

Great Article! Linked it on my blog, also Swiss Academics must read it ;-)

Nice article. We bloggers at Annenberg U Penn (which, despite being a school for communication studies, has next to zero bloggers) are sharing it triumphantly.
Speaking for myself, I love to use my blog to say things that I would never put in print otherwise. My posts are not unprofessional--and not necessarily funny--but they're definitely not soooo seriously. (Can I admit I just did that to annoy our grammar instructor?)
It's nice to hear someone try to adjust common wisdom away from "academic bloggers are harming their own credibility."

Wow. Look what pops up when doing a search for you today. You've really made waves.

Good stuff, Jeff.
I was encouraged by the likening of seriousness to being invested in one's work and also pleasure of the text.
And seriously, whatever roils deep-felt reaction.

I'll bring the traditional fighting sticks. TO THE DEATH!

Y'all should rumble at Cs. I'll buy drinks for all of us afterward. Who wants to keep the book?

How piquant.

Working in a job. You should try it sometime.

Teaching writing (including grammar). What are you doing?
Posted by Jonathan @ 02/20/2006 12:16 PM EST
Ok, folks. Calm down. No need to insult other folks' career issues.
But seriously, Jonathan. What are you up to these days?

There's also this: "I draw attention to how _serious_ both the critics and supporters of this kind of writing take its activities"
And I did, yes, though the implication is more than a little amusing in a "seriousness" context.

SlowLY, mockingLY, lovingLY, the adverb man asked:
"Did you finish your dissertation yet?"

Perhaps you would like to join my fledgling Society for Adverbial Preservation, yes?

Lighten up, Goodwin. I learned that lesson when I was in Stripes.

A student just sent me a link to your article. Great work!

Or what if Cervantes took the “novel” form of the novel so serious
"Seriously."
